Finances and Work

Money and Work Related Issues

Yes, just about EVERYTHING seems to revolve around money…

WE ALL NEED SOME KIND OF INCOME TO SURVIVE IN THIS WORLD!Money

Whether you have a job, own a business, receive Social Security, Disability, Child Support, a trust fund (which is always nice I’m sure!), unemployment, etc., or even stand on a street corner holding a sign saying “Out of Work and Hungry, Please Help”, we all need money to get by in life.

Now that you’ve taken on an additional mouth (or mouths) to feed, clothe and the multitude of other expenses involved with raising children, your finances might take a bit of a beating depending on your personal financial situation.

I am FINALLY beginning to get better at budgeting my money. To be honest I am not totally “there” yet, but working very hard to become a good “budgeter”!

I can’t wait to share some of my tips and can’t wait to hear yours.  Yes, YOUR help and expertise is very much welcome here!

AS FAR AS WORK IS CONCERNEDWork

Well, mostly I hope you have a great job, or any kind of job for that matter, to support yourself and your new family member(s).  Even if you DO have a great job though, you will still experience some issues raising a child and working a full time job (considering us grandparenting grandparents are not as young as we used to be).  Also for younger relatives who are raising another relative’s child, there will be many changes to your lives too.

If you had a job and have lost it in this not so great economy of ours, then I can totally relate to that.  Finding yourself suddenly unemployed is terribly stressful and can also have a negative effect on your health.

THERE ARE THINGS YOU CAN DO TO COMBAT THE STRESS  AND OTHER SIDE EFFECTS OF JOB LOSS

Such as some type of exercise, venting to friends (I’m sure they will all just LOVE that!), networking with others (you never know what can happen with networking, perhaps a new job?), and learning new skills.

I’m looking forward to sharing some of my ideas on how to deal with both money and work related issues with all of you!  You’re ideas and experiences are always welcome, so please share with us!

Great site! It must be extra challenging to raise grandchildren. I look forward to hearing more about how you face these challenges.

        Hi Faith,

Yes, it’s definitely challenging in a lot of ways, but I wouldn’t know what to do without my little guy if he wasn’t with me. He’s got an extra special place in my heart both as my grandson and as a son. Thank you for the nice compliment on my site!

    2. I can possibly give you a little insight into the future. I was raised by my grandmother from the time I entered high school until she passed away at 91 and I am sure I would never have survived without her blessing my life. I am 75 now and keep her picture in a place of honor in my living room, so I NEVER forget what she did for me. I hope you find the same end result for your grandson.

Hi Warren! I am so happy that your grandmother had such a positive impact on your life, and you’re love for her shines through in your comment. I am sure your grandmother felt just as blessed to have you in her life and you felt to have her in yours. Thank you for sharing!

Wow. What an amazing thing you are doing, and applause for dedicating yourself to your grandchild, and putting this site together as a helpful resource for others who are doing the same…

Thank you Lisa! I am hoping to create a site where grandparents and other relative caregivers can find help for everyday problems that are unique to our situations. Plus tips and advice from all parents are always welcome.

I don’t know if you’re interested in clipping coupons as a way to save money on groceries or not, but southernsavers.com and other similar sites are very helpful in saving money as a way of budgeting. I don’t have anything to do with the site. It was created by someone that lives in a town near me and I went to the course. The website is free and has a lot of great info. on there for saving money on many things that you buy. Best of luck!!
